Baynhams was founded in 2013 by brothers Tom and Lawrence Baynham, both Manufacturing Engineering graduates of the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge.
Baynhams is an engineering company. It was sole manufacturer of the PeRSo powered air purifying respirator supplied to NHS frontline staff through the pandemic. The same family separately founded INDO, which manufactures driverless LED lighting in Southampton, and Baynhams Brewery at Hops House in the New Forest.

PeRSo · A chapter closing
The respirator that protected NHS staff is seeking a new owner.
PeRSo — the Personal Respirator, Southampton — was developed at pace in 2020 with the University of Southampton, University Hospital Southampton and Wessex AHSN. INDO converted its lighting production lines to build it.
Manufacture concluded in 2026. Baynhams is seeking a buyer for the certified design, the type approvals, the tooling and the PeRSo brand. Enquiries are welcome from manufacturers, PPE distributors and healthcare groups.

Tom and Lawrence Baynham both read Manufacturing Engineering at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge. They founded Baynhams in 2013, and brew with their cousin Harry at Hops House.
Products are designed, tooled and assembled in Britain, and the people who signed the drawings are still the people who answer the phone.
